You’re a Winner Baby

Actually, I’m a winner baby. Kind of…

So a couple of weeks ago I was nominated for the Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award by the lovely Ems Tells.

This is an award to recognise great and inspirational bloggers, and is an amazing way to spread the love and support your fav bloggers! (For more info and the rules for the award, click here!) In classic awards ceremony-style, I feel truly honoured to be nominated.

No but seriously, I love it when people are nice about my blog! Every comment or retweet makes me so happy, hence why I do so much writing (well try to anyway). It’s so nice to have my little blog thought of, so thank you so much Ems! Here are my answers to your questions…

1. What’s your favourite self-care activity?

Watching Rupaul’s Drag Race. Anyone who’s met me or even glanced at my Twitter will know I’m the biggest Drag Race nerd going. I bloody LOVE the queens; the outfits; the sass, but also the tender, touching moments that make you feel all warm inside. So naturally, I’ve watched it from start to finish many many times.

As I’m a busy kinda gal, I don’t get too much time to binge watch my fav shows, so save it as a treat to perk me up on down days (there’s honestly nothing that picks me up quite like an episode of this show). Recently I went through a break up, and I watched a lot of episodes. It’s just heart warming and comforting, and is always exactly what I need.

My ideal self-care evening would include sitting in bed, watching Drag Race with a plate of nachos. And maybe sticking on a face mask on.

2. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

This is a question on pretty much every episode of my fav podcast– the Creative Rebels. Each episode I’ll listen and imagine I am their guest, discussing my upcoming book and hugely successful blog (obviously). However I’m never too sure with how to answer this question. In all my day dreaming, I’ll usually skip this one, because y’know… it’s my imagination and I can do what I want.

My answer would have to be something along the lines of having big life ambitions and not caring what others think. I’ve always loved that quote, “have goals so big, you feel uncomfortable telling small minded people”.

Or similarly, that classic RuPaul quote: “Unless they’re paying your bills, pay them bitches no mind.”

3. If you had to delete all but 3 apps from your phone, which ones would you keep?

The first would be Google Maps. I plan everything with Google Maps, It is my saviour, and if I had been born 50 years earlier, I’d be walking round in circles for most of my life.

The second would probably be WhatsApp as I just love a chat. There’s nothing better than a 3 minute voice note on a group chat to break up the day. Plus you can delete an accidental message, I really appreciate that feature.

The final one would have to be Depop. I’m a sustainable shopper, so I buy around 90% of my clothes from Depop. It’s bloody great invention that I really couldn’t live without.

I’m desperate to keep Twitter on too, but it’s best for everyone if I sack that one off.

4. If you could watch any film for the first time again, what would it be and why?

All of the Harry Potter movies… Is that allowed? I remember finishing the books and thinking ‘well shit, what now?!’ And it was the same with the movies years later. They’re just such a great set of stories with so many twists and turns, that truly immerse you in this magical world. Even though the writer turned out to be a complete dick.

Also someone ruined Sirius’ death for me before I got to it, and I’m still not over it, 15 years later. (You can’t claim this as a spoiler now, the book literally came out in 2003).

That’s enough inflating J.K Rowling’s ego for today.

5. If you could have the voice of any famous singer, who would you pick?

Dolly Parton. I just love her voice. To be honest I just love her, I think she’s great, and she’s just so cute with her cute but amazing voice.

This is why I’m not a music critic.

  3. What is your biggest life ambition?
  4. Do you believe in ghosts?

  1. Thanks so much for taking part! Love it when people follow up on awards after you’ve nominated them 😊 really love your answers – especially the apps (I couldn’t answer that one myself!) and Harry Potter. I’m currently re-reading the books as an adult and really enjoying it! X
